If using frozen edamame, prepare according to package directions until just tender. For fresh edamame, bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pods for approximately 5 minutes until tender, then drain thoroughly.
In a spacious skillet, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat until shimmering but not smoking.
Add the finely minced garlic to the skillet, sautéing for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant and golden, taking care to avoid burning the garlic.
Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes and continue to sauté for an additional 30 seconds.
Gently introduce the boiled edamame to the skillet, tossing them in the garlic-infused oil until well coated.
Drizzle the soy sauce, honey, and freshly squeezed lime juice over the edamame. Stir thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well mixed.
Let the mixture cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until everything is heated through.
Taste test and season with sea salt to your liking, then remove the skillet from the heat.
Just before serving, generously garnish with freshly chopped cilantro.
